At Going Global 2018, we will explore how tertiary education institutions are equipping young people with the skills and knowledge to benefit their communities, be that at a local, national or global level.
Tertiary institutions in the 21st century are both globally connected and locally engaged. They play a key role in communities – from helping to develop globally-minded citizens and fostering international partnerships, to creating the conditions for industry collaboration and social innovation. They also act as agents of social change, inclusion and mobility.
In light of today’s financial, environmental and political challenges, how can tertiary education leaders and policymakers communicate the role and impact of institutions in these areas? What are their top priorities in ensuring national tertiary education is fit to shape the societies of tomorrow, as well as to meet the future needs of students, employers and their communities? How can global tertiary networks contribute to achieving this?
These opportunities and challenges will be explored through the following lenses:
- new skills, new graduates
- social and international mobility
- demonstrating impact
- future-proofing the systems of tertiary education institutions
- new models of delivery.
